"Children should have dinner every single night," Anaheim White House restaurant owner Bruno Serato said Saturday at the Assistance League Anaheim's 19th annual Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Disneyland Hotel. The honoree, a passionate philanthropist, is known for establishing, in honor of his mother, Caterina's Club, which serves meals to 50,000 "motel kids" each year.
The luncheon, themed "Viva Italia," a tribute to Serato's Italian heritage, featured a delicious Italian lunch and entertainment by Frank Sinatra look-and-sound-alike David Kinwald.
League President Diane Price welcomed the nearly 400 guests and introduced co-chairwomen Lisa Fujimoto and Gail Taylor, who recognized artist Sandra Grassi Nelipovich for her 14 years of innovative invitation and program design and Sally Ann Haynes for the creative floral centerpieces.
KABC/7 "Eyewitness News" reporter Ric Ramero proved an entertaining host, with Paul Kott auctioneer for the live auction, which featured a $3,500 Disneyland Resort package. It was left to fashion coordinator Carol Latham to create the exciting runway fashion finale. Serato gave each guest a complimentary $50 lunch for two at his restaurant, and net proceeds of $121,000 were targeted for the assistance league's many philanthropic programs for all ages.
