Bruno Serato came to this country 25 years ago and started a job as a dishwasher. In 5 years time he was promoted
from dishwasher to bus boy to waiter to Maitre d'. After only 5 years in this country he won Maitre d' of the Year of Southern
California, selected from thousands of entries. After only seven years in this country he bought Anaheim White House Restaurant.
Since then, It did not take long for the Anaheim White House Restaurant to become an acclaimed restaurant on the national and
international level. Bruno has been given the "Restaurateur of the year" of Southern California, and is one of only
a few recipients in Orange County of the Five Star Diamond Award presented by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Bruno
was the recipient of the 1998 Leadership Award from the Southern California Chapter of Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association.
For the past 20 years, Brunos', Anaheim White House Restaurant, has been award winning, known for it’s creative cuisine,
having garnered the coveted “Golden Scepter Award” also awarded, Chef of the Year and Sommelier of the Year honors.
The restaurant is recognized by Zagat and DiRoNA, and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Bruno Serato has put Anaheim and
Orange County on the culinary map and has been featured on televisions' CBS, NBC, KTLA, FOX and The Food Channel networks. Bruno
has been featured on national and international publications even as far as Tahiti, Japan and Italy. Bruno has also been featured
in the N.Y. Times.
Bruno recently fulfilled his life-long dream to become an American citizen. He honored his mother by creating
a charity in her name, "Caterina's Girls Club," to benefit female members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim. Bruno's White House
hosts scores of Fundraisers each year in his Caterina Ballroom. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim and their Kids Luncheon which
raised thousands of dollars last year, St Catherine's Military School annual brunch fundraiser, Paint Your Heart Out Anaheim
Celebrity Waiter Gala (which has been held for 19 years in his restaurant) and Halcyon are only a few of the other charities
who benefit from Bruno's generosity. Bruno has been actively involved with Paint Your Heart Out Anaheim and helped raised over
$750,000 for their cause. He has helped the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim raise thousands of dollars and Caterina's Girls
Club has raised over $250,000 since it's inception 24 months ago. He was the recipient of Cypress College's Citizen of the Year
from Anaheim at their Americana Awards. Leadership award from Bruno was also honored by the American Italian Renaissance Foundation
with the "Italian Heritage Award", he was awarded the "California Humanitarian Award" by the California Restaurant
Association, and also named one of the "Hottest 25 People of Orange County" by OC Metro for his contributions to the
community.
Bruno won the National Restaurant Association “Restaurant Neighbor Award" event on Capitol Hill in Washington DC.
This was the first time ever that a California restaurant has won this event. Bruno was named the "Cornerstone Humanitarian
of the Year" as part of the Association's seventh annual Restaurant Neighbor Award for his dedication to helping underprivileged
children. The “Humanitarian of the Year” award singled Bruno for his individual restaurant operator’s dedication,
commitment, and support to his community.
Bruno's restaurant currently employs over 70 persons of his community. Bruno is currently
an active board member of both the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim, Caterina's Girls Club, and the Executive Board Directors
of the Anaheim Convention Center and many other organizations.
