(Bruno Serato’s “Temptation at the White House” Pairs Recipes With Sensuous Photos)
In what is likely the most unique cookbook made today, “Temptation at the White House” ($39.95) is one award-winning restaurateur’s provocative interpretation of how food and sensuality go hand in hand. The 136-page color pictorial offers readers a collection of never-before released recipes that have earned Bruno Serato’s Anaheim White House raves in a number of media outlets including the New York Times. The recipes and conventional food shots are paired with provocative photos of leading male models interacting with the food. Also featured are members of the Men’s U.S. Volleyball team and Italian film star Raoul Bova, who is best known for heating up the screen with Diane Lane in “Under The Tuscan Sun.” In addition to U.S. distribution, the book has been released in Italy as demand for it is at a feverish pitch in Serato’s native country. Proceeds from book sales will be donated to a nonprofit organization established by Serato three years ago that feeds 30,000 “motel” children (so called as they are forced to live in shabby motels and their working parents are unable to adequately feed them) each year.
The photos were taken by a number of prominent photographers including internationally renowned Greg Gorman, who has photographed the likes of Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone, Al Pacino and Gwen Stefani – all of whom have dined at Anaheim White House.
“With so many cookbooks on the market, I wanted to create something completely different,” said Serato. “It has long been understood that there is a link between sensuality and food and it’s that connection that I witness every day in my restaurant. My intention was for the book to underscore that relationship and thanks to an incredibly talented team of professionals, I think I have accomplished that.
“I have shared my vision and galleys of my cookbook with publishers, journalists, cookbook writers and my mostly female clientele and I’ve been bowled over by their overwhelmingly positive response,” he added. “I think that ‘Temptation at the White House’ will heat up kitchens across America and beyond.”
